Great article. Flex has a lot of potential there just haven’t been too many great applications yet. This is a good list of apps though, I’m excited to try out klok and the google analytics tool.

  10. Reply DnC October 7, 2008 at 10:42 AM

Some of these are crap. Why does anyone need an air app that takes screengrabs, when all Windows and OSX computers have this function built in? Why would you need an air app screen ruler when there are much lighter weight ones available?

it’s a shame that the 2 worth looking at both assume that as i’m on linux i haven’t installed Adobe AIR, which admittedly in only an alpha version, but does work. It has to, as i use it for twhirl, stopwatch and market samurai.

  24. Reply Ankit July 27, 2009 at 11:39 AM

the article was great but Dude don’t you think about saving some screen space. when i read your stuff on my widescreen monitor, its like a loooooong column in which you have keep scrolling down. Think about making the pages wider and saving screen space.

  25. Reply Umut M. July 27, 2009 at 2:34 PM

Thanks, and you’re right that the column can sometimes be very long.

I had thought a bit on offering a better layout but couldn’t find a real solution as a wider layout will require wider images which will have bigger heights (that will result in the same thing).

And ~500px somehow became a standard which makes it much easier to find visuals on resources.

But, this is not a no, I will be thinking and thanks much again.

Nice list guys, well done! Have tried Flickr Flipper and Pixus!

I would also add to your list an application called Photo Frame Show. Its a nice little tool for adding frames to digital photos. Actually the frames are quite nice and they do make a difference. By adding text and graphic it adds a more personalized look.

you can find the app at http://www.frameshow.com
